Sports Pro's NFL Playoff Picks!

Hey Pros and Bros! It's that most wonderful time of the year again! It's time for:

That's Right! This is the start of the football season! And what better way to celebrate the start of the season than predicting how it will end! I've got my picks right below! Along with the Average Bro and his worthless opinions chiming in!

Do you agree with us? Super disagree with us? We want your opinion heard! Let us know your take on the 2013 Playoffs by commenting below or tweeting us @ProsandBros! We'll include your picks in our challenge to win prizes at the end of the season!

Well let's get to it already!

NFC

NFC North
Packers: Sure they lack a run game, something that Eddie Lacy won’t fix. Sure they lost Greg Jennings, someone that James Jones can’t replace. And sure their secondary, at times, can be suspect. But they’ve still got the best player in the game in #12 and solid front seven that got to the QB 47 times last season, 4th most in the NFL. It’s a tough division, but I think the Pack cruise to the top, finishing the regular season with 12 wins.

NFC South
Falcons: Matt Ryan comes into his 6th year as starting QB of the Falcons with a regular season home record of 35-5. So, even if they’re terrible on the road this year, they’ll still get 7 home wins. However, the Falcons high powered offense, and above-average defense, should equate to a few more wins than that. At 13-3 the Falcons will dominate the South, earning the top spot in the NFC.

NFC East
Washington: Shanahan can coach, Morris can run, and RGIII can throw. Orakpo is back from his super-scrabble caveman hiatus, and is ready to play. I expect the East, as usual, to be another close division, but with 11 wins the Skins will move on.
Average Bro's Take: I Super Duper agree!

NFC West
Seahawks: The Seahawks are easily the best team in the NFC. Their defense is stout, giving up only 15.3 PPG last year, and their offense is dynamic. And they, like the Falcons, are difficult to face at home, 8-0 last year with a point differential of 243-95. A tough division, and a tough schedule, may not lead to the best record, but with 12 wins they’ll still top the East.

Wildcard
49ers: The Niners come close to taking the division but I think Seattle is too strong. However, the returning NFC champs, will in fact make it back to the playoff this year. Their offseason acquisitions will help to improve their team, leading to a 10 win season and a solid wildcard spot.

Wildcard
Panthers: I know it’s a crazy pick, and there’s really no merit for the Panthers to transition from a 7-9 team to a playoff contender. However, their defense has improved, with arguably the best line backing core in the NFC. Also, Cam has matured, coming into his third season. The Panthers ended their season last year on a 4 game win streak, and I foresee that trend continuing, finishing with 10 wins and the second wildcard spot.
ABT: I do think this is a bit crazy. I think Cam comes out stronger than we've ever seen him but, the running game cannot be relied on, and they're going to need it if they want to spread out the defense.
I got one you'll think is even crazier! DETROIT! Megatron doesn’t seem poised to slow down and Matt Stafford is ready to deliver him another record breaking season. Hopefully a decent running back like Reggie Bush can open up that passing game even more.

AFC

AFC North
Bengals: Hard Knocks teams have never really fared well when it comes to the regular season. However, the Bengals are different. The Bengals are actually a contender, making the playoffs the past 2 years. The level of competition has dropped in the North, while the Bengals have improved. Their top 5 defense, along with their efficient offense will lead to a very special season this year, going 14-2 and topping the AFC.

AFC South
Colts: This will probably be the closest division in all the AFC. With the Colts and the Texans and the…well that’s it, but those two will make it close. I see the colts, with their young, talented offense, edging out the Texans with a 10-6 record, and another spot in the playoffs.
ABT: I think the Colts take a step back this year. Luck found himself on his back so often last year and I don't see that changing. They've added a decent running back in Bradshaw but he could be on his last legs.
I have the Texans here. Matt Schaub steps up a little bit. Not a lot, but just enough to let the running game carry him. Plus the addition of Hopkins opposite Johnson creates a little bit more room for Calvin to do his thing. Not to mention their up and coming defense! (SWAT SWAT!)

AFC East
Patriots: Do I really need an explanation for this pick? The division is weak and the Pats are strong. 12 wins gets them into the playoffs once again.

AFC West
Broncos: The Broncos, like the Pats, have a very easy division. Their offense is arguably the best in the NFL and their defense can hold its own. I see another solid year out of Peyton and Co. ending with a 12-4 record and a trip to the playoffs.

Wildcard
Texans: As we discussed earlier, (like 7 sentences ago) the Texans will give the colts a run for their money, but I think in the end they lose in a tie break. There’s no doubt their defense is great, but the offense, at times, can be shaky. Foster will need to carry their O in order for them to make the playoffs, but he can, and will. A 10-6 record gets them a wildcard spot and a chance at the title.

ABT: Remember earlier (like 8 sentences ago) when I said the Colts would take a step back? I still believe that. I also believe that, outside of the division leaders, the AFC is devoid of talent. I don't see an AFC Wildcard team having over 9 wins. Colts might just be one of those teams.

Wildcard
Chiefs: No, that is not a typo; it does in fact say “Chiefs”. They’ve got a dynamic running game with Jamaal Charles, a new quarterback that is extremely efficient, a new coach that can actually coach, and a defense that’s extremely underrated. The Chiefs will be the surprise of the year, collecting 9 wins and squeaking into the playoffs.
ABT: Are we sure that's not a typo? Do you mean "Chefs"? That's an easy misconception. I think calling Alex Smith "extremely" anything is a little much. He's a very middle of the road guy in all facets. Not a bad looking guy but not dreamy. Probably drives a 2008 Mazda. Probably has a golf handicap of like 9. And moderately, but certainly not extremely, efficient quarterbacking skills. I think they definitely take a step forward but playoffs is a big step.
I'm taking the Ravens here, but again I'm not confident. I could see another team sneaking into this spot but not the Chiefs.
Seriously, do you mean "Chives"? I gotta find out what that typo is supposed to be.
Superbowl XLVII

I have the Seahawks beating the Broncos. Seahawks are the best team in football and they will upend the surging Broncos.
ABT: Uh oh! I have the Denver Broncos beating out the Seattle Seahawks 24-17 in a heroic matchup! Looks like we could put some money up on this one! Or you could just give me my 20 bucks now.
Remember to give us YOUR picks for the playoffs! Tweet us or leave your picks in the comments and we'll add them to our SPAB Board! Win some cool stuff (or just bragging rights, we don't know yet).
